How to connect to RTG Servers Via Remote Desktop

RTG
This Kb is a starting point for how to connect to a act! server that is hosting with in RTG ACT! Cloud hosting system.

Please be considerate.

We do ask that you disconnect from the VPN when you are complete with your modifications. We have more than enough VPN licenses for everyone to connect but not at the same time. Please keep this in mind and be sure to disconnect from the VPN when you are done. Users who establish VPN connections and leave then active after they are done may have their VPN accounts disabled.

The Warning.

"With great power comes great responsibility." It is possible for you to login to the ACT 9.01 server and open a earlier version database(9.0a, 8.02) and upgrade the schema, this is not something you want to do unless you have talked to the support at RTG. MaxControl is smart enough to notice and handle this change but your clients may not be happy with you if you login the 9.01 server and upgrade their schema before their ready to move to the latest version.

Since we are warning you ... :) Some things should not be done thru Remote Desktop, I.e. Making a Backup and transferring it to your desktop, Creating RDBs. Please use MaxControl for these features as it handles them very well and its much quicker to download backups & remote databases from the web based system than thru a remote desktop session on VPN.
